A revolutionary tool for plant enthusiasts
Cleaning a plant is essential for its health, ensuring the leaves can get the light they need without being obscured by dirt and dust. It is also a necessary step when treating plants for pests.
The Leafsweep is a tool meant to make cleaning, dusting and treating plants easier and more ergonomic. We designed the Leafsweep to be a better alternative to traditionally using cumbersome, loose paper and microfiber towels.
Floppy paper towels who? We don’t know them
Instead of single use paper towels and loose microfiber towels, we designed the Leafsweep microfiber covers to be leaf-safe at all angles and fit securely to the tips.
We purposefully designed the covers to accommodate cleaning a variety of different leaf shapes and sizes by considering details such as the type of microfiber pile, and the sewing techniques to get consistent pile around the edges and a smooth cut off at the base of the covers to avoid any potential for leaf damage. The interior is lined with a fuzzy, brand-patterned material that sticks to the hook fastener on the Leafsweep tips.
The tips go back and forth so you don’t have to
Once one side becomes dirty, simply rotate the tips to the unused side and continue cleaning.
We wanted to design a feature to maximize plant cleaning time and minimize the time in between. In order to achieve this, we saw the need to be able to use both sides of the microfiber towels, which led us to design these rotating tips.
Basically re-invented tongs but with a focus on ergonomics (and plants)
Like elevated tongs, we designed a push-to-lock and unlock button with a wide surface area to make maneuvering the Leafsweep easy for single-handed use.
Through extensive ideation and prototyping, we landed on the ideal shape and size to best fit in a variety of hand sizes. Unlike traditional tongs that require your other hand to maneuver the lock, we designed a locking button that only needs the one hand holding the tool to lock and unlock it: push the button on the side of your hip, on a table, on your head (jk), or wherever is most convenient.
Lock the Leafsweep between cleaning plants to keep it in its slim profile and unlock when needed. Uncumbersome and unmistakably ergonomic.
Special bonus feature: the tips are removeable!
By removing a tip, the user can single out the other one to use in smaller crevices.
Working together with our engineers, we were able to create the ability to remove and reinstall the tips. We included this feature to increase the modularity of the Leafsweep to allow users to further tailor the tool for their specific use cases.
The Goha Leafsweep packaging evolution
How we did the packaging design
And of course, there’s a custom adjustable strap
Designed to match the design language of the Leafsweep itself, we modeled the strap base and adjuster to be softly rounded and contain the Goha logo and motifs.
