We set out to design ski poles that stand out from other poles on the market. From their friendly form factor to their unique customizable colors, designing the Yardsale ski pole took us away from what people think about the traditional ski pole.
While incorporating the magnetic feature of the poles, we also reconsidered the ergonomics of the handle, intentionally designing the finger grooves, handle height, and circumference for the best comfort.
“Magnetic resort poles, designed for recreational skiers”
This pill-shaped basket was designed for optimized magnetic function while relating aesthetically to the handle with its soft curves and scalloped interior. As the shape is unique to Yardsale, we pulled in aspects of existing ski baskets, such as the notches, for a sense of familiarity.
Designing the resort baskets for function and form
To best accommodate the visualization of these customizable poles, we utilized 3D rendering to create images throughout the design process. 3D rendering was used for proof-of-concept during conceptualization, customer facing product images online, and for both digital and physical marketing.
